Apple Users Report Seeing Other People's Photos When Using iCloud for Windows

A strange bug has startled the Apple user community, as some people claim to have seen other users’ photos in their own online library, but only when accessing it via iCloud for Windows.

What started as scattered weird reports from the Apple community on the MacRumours forum seems to be gaining traction as more people report the same problems. Seeing other people's images in your library is disconcerting, especially when you realize it could happen the other way around.

In one of the reported instances, a user noticed foreign frames inserted in his own video. All these problems only seem to appear when using the iCloud for Windows application to view the library on Windows 10 or 11. Also, it seems to require the activation of HDR and HEVC options.

"iCloud for Windows is corrupting videos recorded from an iPhone 14 pro max resulting in black videos with scan lines," said the users on MacRoumours. "On rare occasions, it is inserting stills into videos from unknown sources, possibly other's iCloud accounts."

"I've been shown photos of other people's families I've never seen in my life, soccer games, and other random photos. Obviously, this is extremely concerning and does not exactly make me feel safe using iCloud," the user added.

He also said he contacted Apple support and provided evidence in the form of a video and screenshot of the incident. Soon after the report went live, other users chimed in and confirmed that they're seeing the same issues.

It's still unclear what's happening, but it all points to an issue with Apple servers. The company has yet to address the situation. According to a TechRadar report, numerous people have already notified the company.
